This parameter is not an option when the family is created by a manufacturer. In some fixtures from the manufacturer there is the option for color filters or intial color output.

If the parameters for the light are not visible then maybe its because the actual light source is nested into the fixture family. Click on the light source and click edit type in properties.

However if a manufacturer has set it up so that the light source parameters cannot be changed it is probably because how it is setup is the accurate representation of the product and the options available for it.

Big help thank all!   This luminaire is a RGBW and has the ability to change colors, I understand the manufacturer has set the parameters to keep accuracy, but if I duplicate the family and make my modification there I could keep them separate. How would I add a color filter to show the RGB options?

Since the fixture does not have the color filter option, could I add this to the family?

I made a light source family you can insert into you light fixture family. It has a parameter to control the material. You can change the lighting properties in the light source family itself.
