I feel like I am going to get mentally punched in the head asking questions but here goes. For future reference I google use help and read as many posts as I can in Revit City and AUGI

Once upon a time and no one can remember here our project north tag showed on sheet actual project north without having to manually rotate. It doesn't work anymore if it ever did before my time here.

We want to have our True North arrow tag rotate automatically on our sheets to reflect our project True North. Is there an instance or type parameter within a generic annotation tag that I can set for this.

In the sheet the tag has the option like the view to be set to project north or true north or the tag can read the rotation of the project automatically.

I found this post from Chris back on 07' and I am on a deadline so I don't have much time to review during the day.

Its quite easy to have a north arrow have a type parameter in your titleblock that is set once for a project for its orientation.  This is exactly what we do.

However it is not currently possible to link this with the actual project orientation, so you could rotate your project and have the arrow adjust.  This is still a manual process.  But using the previous method at least it only needs to be done once.

The only way I can contemplate to do this is to actually have a model or detail element placed in the view.

Thank you WWHUB.

Here is what I wrote to our BIM team after I was asked if this could be done after I asked here if this could be done.

Instance Parameter for True North Arrow Tag to orient to Project True north by selecting true north or project north parameter in the tag properties drop down. Right now you can rotate manually or set the degree in the tag dimension.

The  idea would be to insert the True North Tag on the sheet select the tag and then in the tag properties pick true or project parameter and the tag aligns to the view rotation. Has to be a way.

How does the view orientation parameter work with aligning the view project or true north. herein lies the mystery. If we can get the same parameter to read in a tag bravo.

True North tag with orientation properties.

I have no idea how to google this question.....I am not getting close with my requests in Google.

Revit detail element that rotates with orientation parameter?

Detail element that rotates with Project North orientation?

Why all the complication?

I just opened a plan set to true north and placed a north symbol in it pointing north.   I then used the 'rotate true north' in that view and the symbol rotated as it should.   I then copied that symbol and past aligned in other plans and it was correct no matter what the view was set to.   Rotated true north or project north (that was not rotated).
