Good evening: Googled, researched, played around and couldn't find an answer. How can you constrain the dimensions in a section or elevation to the centre line of the bottom mullion in a curtain wall. Tried justificatiion didn;t work to equally space the mullions from floor to floor.

Do we need to modify the mullion family with a centre reference plane dimension width parameter to achieve this.

Typically, we only dimension to the opening because that is what the CW people want.

There is no way that I know of to modify the mullion profile as you want.  You can add a small detail line which would be the best method if you have to dimension this way.  There is something you can model but I would never do it.  Look at my image.  What I dit was"

  1. add a grid above the bottom of the cw
  2. Delete all the bottom mullions
  3. Moved that new grid down using the face of the mullion to align with the bottom.

Note the little blue mullion in the bottom left.  That is a mullion that is from the bottom of the CW to the center of the mullion (the grid line).

Thank you WWHUb. I am in agreement with dimensioning the entire opening. One of my colleagues was trying to achieve even panels from a base offset and it was throwing off the mullions from floor to floor. We resolved this by adjusting for mullion size and using a mullion without a cap.
