Hey all i have an really really anoying problem i bought this workstation lap top Specs will be posted down under. my revit 2016 "lags" works really slow also when rendering it takes 20 minutes or so in high mode it uses none of the power from the computer like 30% cpu and mayby 3.5 gb ram
my crappy gamining pc at home wich costs like 1/3 of my workstation does rendering in like 1-2 minutes on high lenovo says its revit problem not their laptop was told this laptop would support revit with no problems what so ever so please help.

Rendering times are not only related to equipment. They are also affected by file size, file elements and modeling techniques.
I doubt that you will have anybody that has your setup. You really need to compare your two systems rendering the same file / view and settings. Otherwise your verbal comparison of the two systems is meaningless.
In other words, the problem may be your process.

we have today tried 5 different laptops 2 x laptops with my setup both took 20 minutes+ we did all try the same file the smallest laptop took 4 minutes fastest took 1 minute all with same settings except hardware again the 2 w550s was the slow

Just render to the cloud. Its free and much faster and it free's up your computer so you can continue working.

internet is crap on the school tried the render option to cloud but with 250/kbit per student it takes ages
for now i will just render on my gaming pc at home way faster
