hello all,
I have a quick question (I hope). I have a cabinet that has presently (3) yes/no options that are instance type parameters. 1 shelf 2 shelves, 3 shelves. I know that i CAN make them into seperate types, but that is not how my company wants to have them work. Its kinda like a super family where the dimensions, height, panels in doors, etc are changed on the fly in the properties window.
My question is what should the formula be so that when the end user loads this family and they click the check box for one option or the other, all NON-USED options are unchecked automatically? something like:
1 shelf ON = 2 shelves/3 shelves OFF
2 shelves ON = 1 shelf/3 shelves OFF
3 shelves ON = 1shelf/2 helves OFF
I know and understand how to accomplish this for 2 options "1 shelf = not (2 shelves)" but i cannot get the third to work. i was thinking about an If/Then formula but i do not know enough about it to set it up correctly. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

unfortunately there is no easy way to make it so when you check one box the other 2 turn off. The best way is to have a 4th parameter that is an integer which can be cycled through your options. see attached for example. the integer can be cycled through any number and if its not 1, 2, or 3 then all things will be off.

you could also use an or statement to add a second value to each visibilty option so that if the integer value is 4 then all things are visible.

Check out Merrillet Cabinets Revit content available from Seek; I think they have the formula you're looking for.

WOW!! im impressed those were definately very helpful. it looks like from the Merrillet Cabinets if i use the if/then formula then i would have to bury an if/then with in one? that might get tricky ... thanks for the great suggestions
