Virginia, about an hour and a half outside of D.C. Most everyone out here is still in the land of 2 dimensions. I also learned on my own, and now I'm training everyone else in the office. Are there any good training books out there for Revit 9 toward which I can point my colleagues?

Hey! Im from Brisbane, Queensland, in sunny Australia!! Ive been using Revit for almost 2 yrs, but i only found out about this site a couple of months ago... lol. I coulda used when i first started, owell, but its still extremely helpful now :D Im studying at tafe a building design course and i work for a builder as their second drafty (ok im basically a junior) but my boss taught me (i learnt a lot myself tho. ha!) and i love Revit - ill never go back. Anyone from Brisbane i can chat to? Apart from the wicked Mr. Spot, whom i have already thanked for his wisdom. - Marie

I'm based in Auckland, NZ, and I've been using Revit for under a year - learning fast and loving it! Im self taught aswell and Im teaching people in the office the workings now too. Nothing like modelling a few Cathedrals and motorbikes to get the hang of it... Pali - Polar bears on the streets? Awesome! Do you have a pet one (and do you call him Frosty?)? But I guess thats kinda like asking if we have sheep on our streets in NZ ...

Uh, Steve, Big Bear is only 6,750 feet above sea level, unless it's "grown" recently or you live at the top of Snow Summit, LOL. JOHN

Well, I was rounding it off...The base areas at Summit & Bear are both about 7,000 and so is Hatchery.

I am right in Fairfax, Virgina. I work for The Onyx Group. We specialize in architecture, planning and IT. I am a self taught Reviteer. I went through the tutorial that comes with the program. Then something excited happened to me. My new director of the architectural department is one of the Revit Evangelist. He started hardcore Revit tradition in our firm. We already have construction documents and design documents completed 100% in Revit. Our clients are very happy with the works that we provide them. I am a Revit lead in my firm. My boss sent me to Autodesk University last year to advance my Revit skills. He is sending me again this year. You guys can can log on "www.revitinside.com" to located architectural and MEP firms in North American, UK and Europe that use Revit.

I'm from Ohio, USA. Just finished a parking garage in Revit and looking forward to the next project. This program is good but not as intuitive as you first think it is. However, I think if there are a couple of top end Revit users in your office to create families and set up your projects, the others working on the projects could progress at a much slower pace. We are just updating the office to 2005 ADT ( one week before ADT 2006 ). I've effectively used 2004 (or 5 not sure which) but everyone else here is on 2003 and not really using the ADT stuff. With either ADT or Revit, there is going to be a big change here.

moxierawk, If you are interested in a Co-op position in Boston, you should apply to the firm where I work. We have a standing tradition of hiring co-op students from WIT & BAC, and are currently seeking more staff. In MOST cases, we end up hiring for full time after the co-op's graduation, because they like it here. Also we are very accommodating to student schedules during the school year. On a side note, I graduated WIT's BARCH program in 2004. check out our website & drop me a line. www.mds-bos.com - Jon Ramos jramos@mds-bos

Hi moxierawk,

Don't know if I could be of that much help to you, Irish firms don't really like taking on students, it's hard for Irish students to get work experience and for you it might be even harder as you wouldn't be familiar with Irish standards. But if you serious about coming to work in ireland post up your email and i'll get back to you over the email with names of firms using revit and any other info that you might need. Good news is that the Irish building sector is booming and there are lots of jobs in the architecture area for qualified people.

Hope I can help.
