Importing CAD is usually not a good process, linking is better.  And, never import CAD then explode it.

Additionally, after you've linked your file, you can change the line type by expanding the link from visibility graphics which displays the layers. While you can change the lines from here it will not necessarily "stick" if the file is reloaded. Best practice - avoid importing CAD as much as humanly possible. It always creates problems. It's just a matter of degree.
