Hello, 

there seems to be some kind of problem with my section box cut material. No matter what I do it shows up grey in both elevation, scetion views and in 3D view. 

Here's the picture of how it looks.

This might sound like a stupid response but just to get started... did you look into your materials browser and change your earth to grey perhaps?
