I am designing a 30 unit apartment building.  I used group to copy similar units and duplicated the group if there were differences.  Im now finding my base cabinets, and random other components are moving themselves up and down -20/+20 in offset on their own it seems whenever I modify the group.  Any suggestions this is getting very frustrating!

I wrote a little spiel about good working with groups. See the link below and see number 28. To summarise. Revit groups are shithouse. Anything more complicated than a couple of items and all sorts of errors and glitches happen. Its sad but true.

Although groups can be / no - they are - a pain, when done correctly, they typically don't have the problems you are experiencing.  In fact, I really don't see a way for them to be doing what you claim they are doing.

One of the biggest problems with groups is caused by mirroring them.  I suggest you aways build a left/right group if needed.

Elements inside a group that will be hosted by elements in the model can be a problem but it can be handled.

Groups have a placement axis - pay attention to it.

I prefer to place all of my groups by level and I copy to clipboard / paste aligned to selected levels when working on multiple levels.
