Hello,

I have a bit of a problem. I've been working in AutoCAD for quite a while now, but new to Revit.

I have a disability that makes it next to impossible to use a wheel. In fact thre best mouse for me to use in the Basic Microsoft ($14.00 special) land I immediatly pull the wheel out. Trouble is that the muscles in my hands are weakening and when I use a mouse with a wheel, my pointer finger "wanders" and bumps the wheel creating a situation that zooms in and out randomly and very frustratingly.

Over time I've overcome this with a series of right clicks, shifts and ctrl. I've becomee quite adept at it, although people freak out when they go to do something on my computer and there's a hole where the wheel used to be.

Now there's Revit. I know the Navigation wheel, but to move the mouse to the wheel and navigate with it is cumbersome. I know it'll probably get quicker with time, but maybe there are quick keys. I'm aware of the quick keys zoom commands but the problem is with panning.

Any ideas or pointers are welcome as I've learned to adapt this far.

Thanks.

This is a good question to ask on the Autodesk site itself.  They should be addressing this.

if you press shift + w it will bring up a wheel to your cursor that has all the functions like zoom, pan, look, orbit and others. I hope that is what you are looking for

you can also change the shortcut for the wheel to anything you like under options in the dropdown menu accessed by clicking the revit symbol in the top left corner. then going to user interface and selecting customize. the wheel is called Full Navigation Wheel which is easy to find with the search.
