i created an exterior wall with wood siding.

when i use the visual style "realistic" it looks great.

i see the horizontal lines of the lap siding.

but i'm in the construction document phase, i don't need colors, but i do need to see the horiz lines.

when i switch to visual style "hidden" all the horiz lines of the siding disappear.

the same thing happens with the roof shingles.

can anyone help?

Edit your material and add the correct model hatch in the graphics tab - surface pattern.

You could probably go into the type properties of the wall, click on structure and then add or edit exterior material in order to change the surface pattern to suit your desired effect. Sometimes it's also just a matter of changing the detail level to fine. I hope that's clear, if not, let me know.
