I have found this door & sidelight on revit city. It fits my purposes exactly. Except that it is 5'-4" wide, and I want to make it 5'-0" wide.  Being new to revit I have no idea about how to make this change to the file. I would try to edit the type and duplicate it, and then just change the width. But the width field is greyed out and I can't change it.  See: http://i.imgur.com/uZUSWAX.png

And problem solved. I watched a door editing series on youtube, then I came back to this door to figure things out.  I am now editing the dimensions and everything else inside of the door to suite my tastes.

Take a look at the parameters in the family to find out what they control. Parameter ‘Width’ controls door width, ‘Glass Width’ – sidelight width, and frame is always 2” thick. So, the total width of the unit is the sum of ‘Width’ + ‘Glass Width’ + 3x2” (3x frame width).

In the project, select the door, click on Edit Type, duplicate, rename and change the parameters to suit your need. Parameter ‘Rough Width’ is grayed out because it is driven by the formula that involves the parameters mentioned above.

Helloo!!! Smile

you just need to follow some steps if you want to modify the width of our door. very firstly, measuring your door properly. If you have a door that you're looking to replace, measure the existing door from top to bottom, and round off the measurement to the next inch.

secondly, rough measurments Once you have measured your exterior wood doors, add two inches to each measurement. That's what people in the industry call a 'rough-in measurement', and they use it to allow for the space you'll need for things like shimming material and hinges.

3rd thing u need to keep in your minds are standard width and heights Smile if you have any problem regarding this you can concern with contractor too. if you are looking for construction company in los angeles i always suggest you this one. Smile
