I have imported a 3D .dwg file into a new revit family. Usually the surface is consistently gray, however this time the flanges became transparent or white or at least not consistent. I have tried to change the material and the pattern without success. See attached image. Does anybody have any tips? Perhaps its is with the way i import models. I just use the Import CAD function.

It would depend on how the CAD file was created. ie: Solids / Surfaces and what CAD software was used. I would also use the CAD file to re-create the geometry in the REVIT Family then delete the CAD file.

Many thanks for the reply. The file was made in AutoCAD but unsure how. Is there a way to fix the model itself? For this part it is ok to model after the geometry in revit, but i suspect more complex parts will have the same issues in the future.

Do you understand that materials in CAD files are assigned by layers and that you can assign that under object styles/imported objects?
