I use Revit 2014 Architectural. Just want to know how you guys deal with wall sections & section details called from the wall sections.

When I cut a wall section from the Revit model, I draw 2d items over model walls, windows & ets. and I group the items because it's easier to control. If I made any callouts from the wall section, I paste the group "align in current view" in the callout views.  By doing that, if I change the anything in the 2d group, both wall section & section detail (the callout) will be updated at the same time.

It works fine except I have concerns if the groups makes the model size bigger. Also, different scales of the wall section & section detail cause some lines show fine in the bigger scale (ex. 3"=1'-0"), but congest in the small scale (ex. 1/2" = 1'-0")

My process is in this post.  I really try to use as little 2D work as I can.

As far as the grouping goes, groups do not necessarily make your model larger.  However, you should never be grouping elements that are only used once.

Yeah, thanks WWWHub. I try to minimum 2d elements as much as possible. Most 2d groups inlcude 2d window, door, membrane, flashing & etc. It's good the group does not necessarily increase model size.
