I am working on an existing building and we have several situations where we would like to install a new door into an existing frame.  Typically when we do this, we would not indicate a size for the door on our schedule but would instead list "VIF" for the contractor to verify the dimensions in the field.  The issue that we're having is that there are several new doors that we want to schedule the sizes based on the height and width dimension parameter and cannot figure out a way to do that and also allow for a text override.  Currently our solution is to do a text mask over the schedule but this is messy for so many reasons and we'd really like to avoid it.  Our other solution was to do a note in the "Comments" column but that's still messy.  Has anyone done something like this successfully?

It's times like these that I miss CAD! Thanks for any help you can offer!

Why do you miss CAD?   Your text mask is exactly a CAD process.

It would be really hard to build a door schedule that allows for every unique situation you can run into.  Our solution is a combination of the masking region and comment column.
