Revit 14

Here's a new one for me... We've got a multi-fam project in which we used linked Revit files for the Unit Plans. When I am in the master building file and an overall floor plan, I can use the "Tag All" tool to tag all the doors (both linked and the ones simply in our file).

The problem is when I try to tag the doors in the enlarged unit plans (these were created using the callout tool). If I do the same "tag all" process, Revit now only tags the non-linked doors.

I also used the same process to tag the linked rooms and that worked fine so I am currently racking  my brain to figure out why it is not working for the doors. Has anyone experienced this?

When you create a callout, you have two options, Floor Plan and Detail.   These two views work differently.   That may have your answer.

That wasn't it, callouts were "plans" not details. Still working through this issue. Here's some more info...

We linked all the original Unit Plan Revit files in to the second level of the project. They were then copied up to the third and fourth levels. Upon closer inspection, I cannot tag the doors on level 2 either (in addition to my original problem of not being able to tag them in the callout which was also sourced from level 2).

Level 3,4 I can still tag the linked doors. BUT, if I make a callout from one of those levels, I cannot tag the linked doors in the callout. What the hell...????????

So frustrated because there doesn't seem to be any consistency to this issue...

And one more thing... it would appear only the "Tag All" option doesn't work.

If I "tag by category" and select each individual linked door they will tag fine. Obviously this is a solution, but not the ideal solution. Plus I still want to know why this doesn't work for the next time this happens.

So, the saga gets stranger...

Same issue here,  I have a Structural linked file, Tag by category works with linked elements, is the "Tag all" option that does not work.

At least I found the problem and a fix...

Problem: The view is messed up, it should be a bug or setting that doesn't get along with another setting.

Solution: Unload and load the linked file, if this still doesn't help, delete the view and create another from View> Create> Plan View (Menu>Panel>Tool), define the view properties and visibilities options by hand and avoid using a template not to copy any misconfiguration that may has caused the issue, and that should be it.
