I'm using Revit 2016 Student version.  I needed some trusses and found them here. Downloaded them and they open in Revit. Saved them but they don't appear as choices when I try to "Edit Type" and "Load"

Do I need to put them in a certain folder?  Or save them in a different way? (I did try "duplicate" and "save as"

I sometimes get the error message "Wrong category"  If I try to copy the open truss file into my project it says "Can't copy between Family and Project"

How do I get these truss files into my Revit so I can load them as a Family?  Also, I notice that they don't have the text files that sometimes come with downloaded .rfa files.

Thanks

B

Too much information missing to answer.

Thre are multiple trusses available in the library installed with your program.  We know how those function but you said you "found them here".   I assume you mean here on Revitcity but I hate assumptions.

So if you got them from Revitcity, recognize that families on this site were created by other users.  Some are good and some are not so good.   Some work ok parametrically and others might not work very well.

What kind of trusses do you mean?   Structural trusses function and look different than 'architectural' trusses.  What family are you actually using?

Did you look for a type catalog along with the family?   If there is one, both files, the rfa and the txt file have to be downloaded into the same directory and in order for the type catalog to work, you have to load the family from the project, not just open it.
