Hei all!

Got a roof that needs to have the sides angeled and got no idea how to do it. Tried the variable checkbox but this makes the bottom part flat. I need however for the top part to be flat so it can be used as a terrace. See the attached image.

Need some extra brain power on this one.

Kind regards,

Mick

Your image doesn't tell us much.  Is that a section or elevation?

If what you want is an inverted pyramid shape, then you will have to mdel that in place and not use the roof tool.  A blend can be used to create this shape.

Sorry forgot to mention that it was a section! Smile The roof also gets wider on the right hand side over it's span.

Would it still then be possible to see the different layers with the in place mass?

Just like in a section of the normal roof.

Thanks,

Michael

Not unless you model each individual layer.   But why do that?  Models don't typically show cut elements.  In 2D sections, you can add details.

Apply negative value to the slope. You might have to create a roof with positive value first and then change it to negative. It is not going to be flat at the top, but you can add a floor object there.

Build it as two roofs.  The upturned perimeter as a "donut" around a flat roof in the middle.

Or consider modeling your roof entirely as a flat roof (with breaks in the perimeter lines where you want slopes to occur) hit finish, and then use the "modify subelements" tool to raise or lower particular points to the desired elevations.

So this is what I got after making a model in place to achieve the 3d representation that i needed. I can then fill in the build up detail with a section. Also I can easily make any changes to the 3d if needed like making a fall in the centre.

Thanks for all the input!
