If I hover over a text note in a project it tells me this : Text notes (Category): Text (Family): Arial 1 (Type)
So I'm assuming that I would be able to find the Text (family) in the project browers under 'families'. This isn't the case. Can anyone
explain this apparent anomaly?

Just click on Text under the Annotate tab and you can see all of your different text types in your properties. If you need to delete a type you can Purge Unused under the Manage tab, if Text does not show up there then you have it used somewhere in the project.
