Is there a way to accomplish this yet? Going through old posts and it doesn't seem like there is a viable method in the program.

Your question is not clear. Below is a topo with a concrete block material. As you can see, it has a surface pattern.
So I assume you mean a 2D or 3D linework pattern. This is not supported.

Yes this is what I mean. There is still no way to apply a hatch pattern to a toposurface in plan view? The last thread i read about this was from 2013 and wanted to be sure there was not some easy workaround.
