Is there a method in which I can place an elevation view from a seperate project onto a sheet? I tried inserting views from file already and none of the views from the previous project showed up on the list to chose from.

Model views are not transferable between projects. You can link the project and cut a view that uses a linked view. But in this case, maybe exporting to CAD from the other project then linking or importing that CAD view may be what you want.
