I have linked some autocad drawings in my project and when i opened the file this morning the links were missing. when i try to re link them i get the following message:
"at least one instance of this link already exist it can be invisible because the links unloaded. continuing will create another instance for this link."
what has happened and what should i do?

When you said you tried re-linking the files did you go to the file menu and choose manage links and reload them from there or did you trying importing the file again and linking it? It sounds like you tried the latter. Use the manage links menu to reload the dwg or re-locate the file if its moved.
Cheers,
Chris.

I have the same problem, except I`m working on a local file of a Central file. I tried all the above steps. None worked! I even deleted the CAD link from the Manage tab in the Central File, but I still can`t reload, unload, or even link any other file to my Revit files !

Not enough information to help. This process works when done correctly. Read your HELP - search links.
What Revit? Do you have all the updates installed? Don't just say yes. Look under the ? / about.
ARe you in a plan or what?
With central files, the linked file can't be on your remote system. It should be in the same location as the central.
Are you working in a workset that is turned off in the view you are in?

I`m working on a local file in Revit Architecture 2013. All the linked files are in the same location as Central file. Below is all the steps I did:
- Made a copy of one of the linked CAD on my desktop ( as a future refrence) and saved another CAD file instead of the original linked CAD. > It didn`t show up in the revit after few attemp of unload, reload, checking the VG settings, ..
- cut the copy version of CAD file from my desktop and replaced it with the original one. This time not only that CAD file but all my other linked CADs are not showing
-I checked the visibility settings, turning on the workset working on in both my local file and central file.
- Now it doesn`t even link ANY other CAD.
Thanks for your help in advance
