The stairs and railings tools in Revit are limited in what they can do and generally frustrating. My ethos is if I begin to spend too much time in making a railing or stair to work, then i delete them and either:
Railings:
Use a curtain wall family instead.
or
Use an In-place or external family.

Hint..... Sometimes you need multiple railings in the same place..... Not all of them have to have all the components nor do they have to be the same length.

Make an end balaster that is to the legth you need, or a custom end rail.
I do this for special railing ends for residential buildings that need to extend and curve down etc.

They collapsed. The servers were just filling up too quick.
