Dearest Revit community,
I've modeled a flat roof, which is visible in the 3D viewer and is cut in section. However, in the roof plan it is as though it does not exist and I see all the walls, stairs, etc located on the floor below. When I loosely select everything in the plan view and go to "filter", there is no roof element selected, but I can easily select it in either elevation, section, or 3D.
In the plan view: "Roofs" and all its subcategories are checked in my visibility graphics. There is no view template assigned to this plan view. The element is not hidden. Underlay is set to none. My view range is set to cut = 4' above the roof level, top = 7'6", bottom= -1'. The roof element is labeled in the "new construction" phase, and the phase filter is set to "previous + new".
See attached screenshots, the roof element is highlighted in the section screenshot (please don't judge the slopiness of the model - I'm just getting started)
I'm stumped! What am I overlooking?
Thanks!

This is user error of some sort. Verify/check the following:
- In Plan - look again at view range / cut settings
- In Plan - Click on reveal hidden elements
- You are not using design options - correct?
- Are you using worksets? If so, is the workset on that the roof is in?

I checked all the things you suggested, and came up empty. Then restarted the program and the roof element was in fact in the hidden elements. How bizzare! Maybe I'm going nuts.
I just made a second roof and again it was in the hidden elements. Any idea why revit would immediately hide a roof element? Is there a setting somewhere I can change so that it will not automatically hide any new roofs I create?
Thanks, WWHub!

There is nothing in Revit that would do this but a non-complying graphics card could. You might want to turn off hardware acceleration.

My collegue is having this exact same problem. I wish someone would stumble on a solution bc it must be some setting or something. I also checked all the usual suspects, and nothing came up.

In addition to the above,
- Is the roof above the cut plane of the view?
- Is the roof in a different phase?
- Is the roof and or view set to be transparent?
If you can't see it, then it is amost assuridly a user error.
