Hello.  Newbie (first post!), REVIT 2016.

What's a smart way to get an overhead beam to show on the floor plan - graphically represented by one line in the center of the beam?

Most responses to similar questions say to use line work.  While that is parametric, I have only been able to get it to show TWO lines and not one.

I can use a detail line to represent the beam with one line but, it's not parametric.

File attached that might illustrate my question better

Thank you,

JAK

In the beam family, add a symbolic line in the center of the beam. In the project, set view underlay to the current level and RCP underlay orientation. The beam should be visible now. Set visual style to wireframe. You should be able to pick the center line of the beam with the linework tool. Set underlay to none and visual style back to hidden lines.
