I apologize in advance for my ignorance... I'm working in 2015, and am definitely a beginner.

I need to create some metal siding-wrapped horizontal "fins", about 10" thick and 3 feet wide.  I also have some vertical fins, which I created as walls.  I intially attemped to use a roof for the horizontals, and I think this would work fine except I wasn't sure how to skin the exposed edge with metal.  

Is a roof the right approach?  Sweeps?  Model something from scratch?

Roof and walls may be poor choices.   Sweeps might work best - because then the fins can have a profile different than a rectangle in section.
