Can anyone explain to me why this family won't load into a project? Have tried to keep it as simple as possible but it keeps coming up with a 'can't make type' error.

using revit architecture 2015

 thanks

I didn't look at the family but quite often, this is a wall thickness issue.   Does the window work in a thinner wall?  Change the wall thickness in the family to something closer to your project's wall thickness.

I tried that earlier, and the wall thickness is exactly the same as the one in the project.

It comes up with the 'can't make type' error before even attempting to place it on a wall, it happens as soon as i load it into the project or any time i select it in the drop down list

There is something seriously wrong with that file.   I edited it removing everything except the opening cut and it still did not work.  It looks like you need to start over from scratch.   You may be able to cut - paste elements into the new family but check often in a test project.
