I made a family for windows ( and doors) that has a precast lintel attached to it. No matter where is the cut plane for the floor plan in the window. I see the Precast lintel instead of the window, although it shows fine in the family! Any idea what am i missing or if there is some trick to it? Thanks

Yup, its in the 'visibility' options for the modelled lintel. What you do: edit the family and click on the lintel. a 'visibility' button should appear on the toolbar. go into it and you should have the visibility options for the member, and there should be a check box for displaying the member in plan (aswell as other options) If this is checked, its my understanding that no matter where the family is cut in plan, this peice will display (quite annoying really...). So uncheck it and load it back into your project and it should be gone!

Awesome, thats what we're here for eh? Speaking of your lintels in walls, how exactly have you arrnaged them? Like have you offset them 10mm from the interior face (to allow for gib) and locked them to be the thickness of the framing or something? hmmm you could have the height of the Lintels as an adjustable parameter, so you could have them at different sizes depending on the load supported... We've been wondering wether to put lintels into our door and window families or not (we have flashings and putty and everything else, why not lintels?), but we arent sure about where that would come in handy. Have you put them in for the section views mainly? Post edited on 2006-03-22 16:24:49 Post edited on 2006-03-22 16:26:20
