When you draw symbolic Lines in the Family Editor without having specified a work plane, your are prompted to specify one. After picking a work plane though, Revit defaults to Model Lines and you end up drawing Model Lines without even knowing it.
Also, the terminology of Model Lines and Symbolic Lines is not consistent. When you are in the Family Editor, everything is as it should be: Model Lines = Model Lines and Symbolic Lines = Symbolic Lines. When in the main model however, its screwy: Lines = Model Lines and Detail Lines = Symbolic Lines. It would be clearer and more intuiitive if the nomenclature were consistent.
