I was wondering if theres a way so that the flip control only flips the door panel and swing? as it stands when I flip the door the frame/trim flips as well so now the "exterior frame is now on the interior and same goes for the interior frame.

You would have to build the family differently.

Thats where my question lies; how to go about building the family so that only the door & swing are the items that flip? I would like my trim/frame that is designated to either thee exterior or interior per the family template to stay as so after the flip. this way if one of the trim/ frame is different than the other it will eliminate the chance of someone forgetting to change the trim/frame

When you flip the door, the trim/stop geometry has to change dependent on the wall thickness.  Your best solution is to have two different frames in the family with a parameter that says which one should show in that instance (if you are using the flipper).
