revit 2015,
I have created a door family and I would like to show the trim head/ sash to show as it would be built in the field. meaning I would like the extrusion to start at the sheathing layer or structure layer of the wall. so that when I cut a wall section of my building and it happens to cut through the door I would like to read as though it were built in real time. right now the trim happens to sit at the face of the wall which happens to be stone.
is there a way to have the extrusion that is the head/ sash frame to associate with a layer of the wall?

You are better off just doing this as detail components when you cut the section.
