Hi!

I'm in a roof plan or an elevation and dragging a selection box. Then a lot of things behind what's shown in the view gets selected (furniture, walls etc etc), and I don't want this (see picture). Is there a way of only selecting what's visible in the view when dragging a selection box? I don't want to limit the view range, there are other parts of the building I still want to see in the background.

I've tried with the selection tools under the modify arrow, but "underlay" seems to control referenced files and not "what´s behind".

Thank you / Jakob

(I'm using Revit 2014)

I have a few suggestions.

  1. We use worksets to seperate exterior items from interior.  Our exterior 'shell' workset has exterior walls, doors, windows, roof and other exterior items.  This is the only workset on in exterior elevations.
  2. Did you consider turning off furnishes in the VG of this view?
  3. When individually picking items, use your tab key to select different items in the same place.
  4. After making a window like this, look at your 'funnel' filter and deselect the categories you don't want.  (1 & 2 are both better at this.)

Also, try this. Looks like a useful tool.
