I have a family that is on a sloped slab that needs to be in a live view.  I need to be able to dimension the item's true horizontal dimensions from the sloped and forshortened elements.

Is there a way to do that in Revit 2014 without overriding the dimensions manually?

First you mean in a plan view - correct?

And when you say "...the item's true horizontal dimension.."  Do you really mean that?  The true horizontal is just that in the current view.

If you mean you want to show the true length (if flat), then the answer is no.  You can show that in a section view at an angle.  Obviously if you over-ride the dimension, you better add a qualifier that says something like "SLOPED LENGTH".  Or better yet, allow the true horizontal and add underneath that the sloped length with qualifier all in paranthesis.

I did mean in plan view.

I figured it couldn't be done.  So my solution will be to make the sloped element a 2D component and lay that over the live elements.  It's cheesy but it'll get the job done according to the criteria we're mandated to use.
