Hi,
I am in the process of attempting to create families for reinforced concrete wall and floor joints. I was wondering what would be the best way of naming my parameters. I was thinking of using the Front Back Left right planes as starting points. For eg all dimensions to the right would be R1, R2, R3 etc with 1 being nearest to the centre . These parameters are shared parameters so I expect r1 to be in the txt file. But when I create another new joint and I use the same naming conventions I would have R1, r2 etc in the new family. The name is not unique . Does it have to be to avoid errors in buliding schedules for the different types of joints?
Is there any good reference to guide me on this?
Thank you

There are no guide lines for this. The system is what makes sense for you and your office. But meaningless names like R1,R2 that are not easily recognized would seem to be problematic.
Shared parameters are more than a name. You can have two parameters named "XXX" with one coming from a shared parameters file and another one defined seperately in new shared parameters file and THEY ARE NOT THE SAME! Be carefule here.
Also, only parameters that are to be scheduled or tagged should be shared. ALL others should be simple family parameters.
