Is there a way to attached columns to a grid utilizing a face of steel rather than the centerline.  For example, a pre-engineered metal building foundation layout will utilize an Edge of Concrete or Face of steel at a sidewall where the grid line is parallel to the column flange.  The grid line as a centerline makes sense in the other direction where the grid line is parallel to the web.

The reason I ask, is it's cumbersome to lock footing, columns, piers, walls to a grid manually.  If you can place a column "at grids" revit will do the locking for you.....then you can place footings and piers "at grids/columns" as well.

Does this make sense?  Column centerlines are only utilized in both directions as infield or interior columns.  The endwalls and sidewalls must utilize Face of Steel dimensioning.

Anyone help me out?

Thanks.
