I created an inplace mass and the created a wall by face. Is there an easy way to switch the exterior face of the sloped wall? Spacebar is not working and I don't see an arrow above the wall like on normal vertical walls.

Is your wall defined incorrectly ...exterior vs interior?

You need to place your wall on the correct side of the mass, there is no quick toggle to switch it.

How do you define the wall? I have attempted to draw/create wall by face on either side of the sloped wall and they always end up in the same direction.

It is not how you place the wall. Two things:
- When you do wall by face, look at the options bar, the location line setting. The wall will be placed on your mass according to this setting. So if you want the exterior face of your wall at the mass face an the remainder of the wall burried in the mass, chose the exterior face setting.
- Under wall properties, the wall is defined from the exterior side at the top down to the interior face. Always define your walls correctly.
