I'm guessing this is a setting i just haven't been able to figure out, and searching the web hasn't helped, so here goes:

I'm working on the stairs in a model started by someone else. Everything I put in new is showing up as a dashed line instead of a solid  line of solid. But it's not just the rails.  It's anything new i put in.  Can modify what's already been put in,and no issue.

I'm using Revit 2015.  Original model was done in Revit2015 LT.

Started another small project from scratch, and everything in that is fine.

I expect it's some simple setting, but I'll be darned if I can figure out which one.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Raybo

What do you mean everything?  Like all of your stair components or literally all families?

Create a new plan and see what happens.   I expect it is VG settings, maybe set by a template.

Everything.  Walls, columns, beams, stairs.  Everything "new" I'm adding is coming in with a dashed/hidden line type.

And it seems to be something just in this model.  I have a small kitchen layout I did from scratch, and to test things, put in a stair and structure and some other "stuff", and everything is fine.

I've checked the Object styles, and that looks correct.  Long time ACAD user, relatively new to REvit, but just can't figure out what's goin gon...

Look at your view's properties.   What phase are you working in?

@WWHub...

Already tried that.  First thing i tried, because had V/G issues with the "out of the box templates".  For plans, elevations, sections and 3D, too.

No joy...the "added" stuff still shows up as that linetype in every view...???

Bingo...phases.

Changed the items to new construction from "Project Completeion" to "New Construction" and the styles changes.

Thanks...

Now, can you suggest where/how I need to go check to set that to the default for new items.  I don't knw oif i accidentally did it, or if was set before i startedworking on the model, but would be helpful not to have to change it for everything i'm going to be adding in.

The phase and phase filter are set by view.   If the view phase is set to existing then eveything you add while working in that view will be existing.   You can select any object though and change it's phase.

READ ABOUT PHASES IN YOUR HELP!   It is the best tool for newbies.
