1.When you select an object to move, a blue dashed window appears. What is the purpose of this and how can i remove it? It is distracting.

2.How do i show the highlighted object moving whilst in move command so i can see prior to completing a destination (Like autocad). All it shows is the blue box moving.

Regards

Andy

You don't say what Revit and what updates so we can not make any suggestions there.  Tell us!  My Revit doesn't work like that.

This sounds like a graphics card issue.  Turn off hardware acceleration.

Your original post is misleading.  You said "...All it shows is the blue box moving...."   In your image, I clearly see the object as well as the selection box.   There is nothing wrong here, Revit does show tghe object moving.

BTW - 2014 had multiple updates which you do not indicate.

While moving or copying objects using ribbon tools, Revit will not display the objects during this process, just selection box (with some exceptions, I think). To see actual objects, just highlight and drag, or while dragging hold ctrl key to copy. You cannot, however, precisely specify start and end points using this method.

WW, what do you mean by ‘my Revit doesn’t work like that’? I thought what the OP has described was a normal behavior. Is there a setting for that somewhere?

WWHub is there a setting for this somewhere?  We are switching a studio off of Autocad onto Revit 2015 and not being able to see the elements inside the selection box is driving them crazy.

I'm sorry but I think I misslead you and them with my answer before because I miss read the question.  You see both the object and the box when selected but only the box moves until finished.  Then the box goes away.

If you want to see where it is being placed then I think you should think differently.  If the object is just moving relative to something else then the easier process is to use the temporary dimensions rather than the move command.  Simply click on the object and change the temporary dimension.

The node used by the temporary dimension can be swapped to other temprary dimension locations by clicking on the blue dot.  This node is defined in the family and you should learn how to set that if you build any families.  A typical door family will dimension to edges of openings and center of door.

When you use the move command, you will also see a temporary dimension based on the reference point you pick on the opject.   So now you can use that to visually control your move.  No need to actually see the object if you picked a point on it.
