does anyone know if there is a way to use superscript text to label a residential door or window.

what do you mean by superscript?
you can add what ever notes you want to your tag... is that what you mean?

You can't place just any text as superscript. Revit only supports simple text functions (bold, italic, underline) as well as all windows character maps keys. For instance if you are just wanting to put square and cubed in superscript you can do so using.

ALT 0179 ³
Check the character map to see codes for other superscript letters.
