I have created an invisible "dot" so I can keynote our site plans (all 2d linework). What we want to do is set it up so we can tag different items with different keynote numbers that are created in cad and imported in (as our civil consultants all use cad instead of revit). I would like the editable keynote tag to come in when I place the "dot" component (as they are invisible and can't be found easily once placed). Is this possible? or is there another way to create an editable keynote type tag that is 1 piece and scalable?

When I created my invisible detail family (IDF), I created a new family category line - red - and placed a cross in the family using that.  In the project, this category is typically off in all views.  When I need to place a tag, I can turn on the category line so that I don't have to find the invisible line.

Sorry, The tag will not come in automatically.   You can create different family types in your IDF that are associated with different keynotes just like you can do with other model families.

Thank you for responding. I've just created a keynote type that is a label with a circle around it and pointed it to the host invisible dot in a template project file so it is easy to copy around.

Yes.... If that invisible family is type driven, then copying the IDF with tag around is a good solution.   We also copy these to clipboard to paste in multiple views.
