How do I stop the balusters from projecting through the bottom rail? The tech manuals I have don't seem to give much info regarding the table with the posts. I can't make any sense out of it.

Your bottom rail should be set as a host for the balusters – see picture. I call it Base Rail, yours will be different.

Can you upload your railing, so we can take a look?

You have ‘host’ as a base for the balusters. See the picture in my post #2 – it should show a name of your bottom rail, not ‘host’ which is floor or stair.
