I've built a gneric model family that I've nested in another generic model that arrays that nested family. The nested family has a material parameter that is linked to the material parameter of the host family where it is arrayed. Once I load it into the project it will not obey the material parameter. However, when I copy the object out of the project and paste it into a new project, it behaves flawlessly. Only when I delete the family out of project where it misbehaves and reload it into the project does it behave they way it should. While it works I would like to not have to do that and redo a bunch of work. Other that reloading the family and overwriting the parameter values as well as reloading the family from the browser, is there a work around to make my project behave the way it should? Or is this just a bug that requires me deleting the family out of the project and redoing the work? Let me know if anyone has had encountered a similar problem. Thanks.

I tricked Revit and got it to work. I had to copy out all of the geometry that wasn't behaving into a new project. Then I deleted the family of the project where it wasn't working, then pasted aligned back from the new project. I wish it would have just updated like normal but I guess it was a glitch in the other project.
