Hei

My goal is to display walls with window/door holes and hollow core slabs on top of it in a structural plan. I am having problem that view range top parameter does NOT do anything. Only thing that changes the view is changing cut.

I need  the wall to be hatched and places where doors and windows are located to be unhatched. Only way I could achieve it was to make reflected ceiling but it will ruin my stairs and so on. Second bad way was to use other level as underlay, which in my oppinion is wrong.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Thank you

I don't understand why the normal plan with a cut through the walls doesn't work for you.   Please explain that.

For example if i have these settings:

Top +10mmCut place -800mmBottom -800mmView depth -3020mm

Then does not matter what is the Top set to, I cannot see the beams(hollow core slabs). Tried even with the original autodesk slab family, did not work. Need to see the walls and its ceiling.

Excuse my stupidity if im missing something, have wasted many of my hours for this already :/

OK - I have a problem here.... why would you have to see the ceiling above?   The walls I can understand but not the ceiling.  If you mean the ceiling below the floor structure then I totally don't understand.

Have you considered using a normal plan view cut through the openings and simply making your floor transparent so you can see the beams under the floor.

Or have you thought about using your normal plan then using the 'overhead' process to show the walls above?

We used to do plans which consisted of walls and its floor but this contractor wants us to display each floor in opposite system -  walls with the floor on top of it.

The option where I cut through the openings and make floor transperent..? When i cut through it then it is impossible for me to see the hollow core slabs in that view. it will not display anything above the cut plane.

3rd option you suggested - I have been doing it. Walls on my plan and using second level which displays the beams for me (level made a bit above).

To make it simplier I added a simple picture what i need the end result to be. Walls and slabs which are sitting on top of them.

OK.... Now I understand.   You never said that you wanted to see the walls below .... So let's say this is second floor framing and you want to see the first floor walls.

So I suggest you:

  • set your plan to cut through the second floor slab just below the second floor level
  • Set your view depth deep enough to see the first floor walls (& doors)
  • Make your second floor slab transparent
  • Add detail linework to show the openings for the doors or simply set these walls to transparent too  (You can do these by category if that makes it easier)

So now - you see you beams, you see your walls....

Everything is nice but how could i get rid of the hatch in the opening region. Only lines which represent the windows and door appeared - it means its quite hard to notice there is a opening. Is there any way possible to get rid of the wall hatch where is the opening?

I think that would be a miss-representation but that's up to you....   The opening is below - not at the floor.   To show it would imply it occurs at the floor.

No easy way to get rid of that.... A plan region would affect oter elements.   A masking region would be a stupid way.

One fast offtopic question about cutting by face.

Why does a family lose its line properties (object style) after being cut. Whenever i cut my slab by face it goes to line weigth 1?

And BIG BIG thank you for your help

"cut by face' - ?   Do you mean using the split face tool?

The line weight would not necessarily go to '1'.   It defaults to your floor projection settings in VG for the view (object styles for the project).   In essance, it is a new edge of floor.   You can use the liework tool to modify it.   Test this by changing in VG / Floors/ projection / lines to something like 10 and watch the perimeter and the split face line change to this.
