When I am in plan and elevation view, the walls, roofs, floors etc show up only as faint dashed lines and often dissappear and reappear from different zooms. This only happens when its set to hidden line - all the others work perfectly. Its driving me crazy so any help would be amazing!! Thanks

This may be a graphic card issue.  

Under the Revit R / Options, try changing the switch settings on your graphics mode.
