Can someone tell me the proper way to make a simple enlarged plan? I have a floor plan with a scale of 1/8" = 1'-0" and I would like to make an enlarged plan of the restrooms at 1/2" = 1'-0". When I click on the callout tab and then floor plan, I get the following error:
None of the created elements are visible in Floor Plan: LEVEL A View. You may want to check the active view, its Parameters, and Visibility settings, as well as any Plan Regions and their settings.
I can create a detail callout, but the view range is different than that of the parent, so it is useless. Any ideas as to why this is not working? It seems like it should be a simple task, but there is probably some setting checked somewhere that is not allowing me to do this.
Thanks
Justin

Is your original plan correctly made, not just a renamed copy of something else? In other words the plan was either the default floor plan or a plan created from the view tab.
Every callout view - be it floor plan or detail - has it's own view properties that can be set independent of the plan the view was created from. Check the view properties - especially the view range. It may be that the settings here are not correct.
If you have imported objects like CAD, they may not be visible in the callout depending on how the import was done.

The plan was created from the view tab. I am creating plumbing floor plans. The architectural background is linked from another Revit file created by another company. I created my plumbing plan by viewing a section of the architectural model and using copy/monitor on all of the levels. I then clicked stop monitoring on all of the levels and began setting them up for my plumbing plans. There is a possibility that the plans were not set up properly either by me or the Architect.
I have the view templates set to none, but I am not sure if there is a setting that would not allow me to view an enlarged plan. I also clicked on reveal hidden elements, but none of the enlarged plans I attempted to make show up. In fact, it won't even let me create one.

I tried creating an enlarged plan on one of the default floor plans that was present when starting a new project and I am getting the same error.

You do still have the linked model in your model and it is on in VG (not hidden) - correct?
It does sound like the architectural model may not be correct. Open it up and see what you have. Are there really 3D elements on your floor level? Look at your project in 3D - is there anything there?

Check the Floor Plan callout type to see if a View Template is being applied.
After you start the callout tool, before you pick the points, click Edit Type and see if the view type has a view template being applied. That could be the culprit.

*** Issue resolved ***
I started a new project from scratch to test things out. When I start a new project using the Plumbing discipline I was NOT able to create an enlarged plan. However, when I create a new project using the Mechanical discipline I WAS able to create an enlarged plan. To fix my project, I simply had to change the discipline of my plan from Plumbing to Mechanical then everything worked as it should.
This seems like a serious software bug. Why would Revit not allow Plumbing drawings to have enlarged plans?

I think something else is happening. When I start a project using the Plumbing template, I have no problems creating a call out. Did you use the default plumbing template or an office modified template? Your problem may be ther.
BTW - This post shows why more information is relavant. You never said anything about plumbing and I assumed architectural - which is the majority of our users.
