Hi there I'm new to the revit community, but have been using the forums for a while. I'm getting into revit pretty heavily with my new job and have a couple questions. I inherited a model (so I do not know how the windows and doors were exactly created) where the current windows and doors are to be demolished for new windows and doors. When I attempt to change the doors and windows in the group to be demolished in the new construction, I get a warning saying "CURTAIN GRID BASED ELEMENTS CANNOT BE GROUPED." I do not see any evidence of a curtain system. The wall consists of two windows and two doors that are hosted to the wall. There are several instances of the same building, so I do not want to un-group.I know that placing new windows and doors in current opening from the remaining wall can be a bit of a headache. The openings will remain the same as the walls are masonry. Any suggestions on the best way to tackle that?

Your windows might be curtain walls.
I think you need a better understanding of the demolishing process in Revit. When you demo a wall or door, the object is removed and the hole is filled in with a new wall to match the existing wall. Is that really what you want? I doubt that. Replacing doors and windows with new is sometimes better done in other ways than using the demo tool. That may be even more important in your case because of your groups.
To not use the demo tool, over-ride graphics of the window in your demo plan to indicate that it is to be removed and show the same window as new in your main plan.

Correct, I didn't want the wall to infill the void left by the demolished wall and windows so what you're suggesting sounds like it will be a lot more efficient!
Thank you very much.

I tried changing the graphic overrides for the view itself so I could save it as a view template and use it for other views. However when I make the changes in the view's properties via "visibilty/graphic override" the changes do not occur. I tried playing around with the phase filter and phase graphic override but that wasn't working either and I don't want to mess with those too much anyway. The only way I could get a result similar to what I wanted (doors and windows to look like they are to be demolished in one view but not another) was to select the element itself and "override by element." "Override by category" did not work on the multiple doors either. However, selecting the element and doing either "override by element" or "override by category" would still take a significant amount of time. Is there a way I can get the doors and windows to be graphically overriden in the view's "visibilty/graphic override" so I can set it as a view template. That seems to be the most time effecient solution.
