Hello, 

REVIT 2014

I have 2 projects linked together. I only want to use 1 column grid. When I format the grid (move grid bubbles off one another, choose which grid line end to see the bubble, etc) I can propagate extents in the project that the grid is in but when I link it to the other project the formatting is lost and reverts to the original formatting. I've made a model group of the grid and opened that file and moved the grid bubble around and then saved thinking that would be what revit refers to when linking the grid but the formatting for the linked grid gets lost and the original formatting from when I set the grid up is what it reverts to. I can't figure out a way to modify the grid bubble locations once the project is linked.   I don't want to have to keep up with two grids if I don't have to. Can another help?

In order to control objects like grids, you need to own them in your project.  the correct process for this is to use copy monitor.  You can read about that process in your help.
