Hi,
I have a number of in-place families which indicate M&E equipment or pipework as part of a survey of a building. When making the families, I put them in either the plumbing or machinery category. I am now setting up views to put on sheets and although I am cropping the views correctly, these families are appearing in full even though many of them are above the view range.
Can anyone advise how I can hide the parts that may be above this view range or have them show as dashed even please?
Thanks,
Peter

I would cut a section through one of those and make sure they are actually where they are supposed to be.

thanks for your reply teafoe5, but i have double checked this and they are at the correct height - I can see that from sections and 3d views. Could it be something to do with the fmaily category maybe?

If it is a non cuttable family and if any part of it including invisible lines is cut or below the cut plane, then the whole family will show.

The discipline of the view itself also comes into play in combination with the category of the subject families.

Something i would check. Open the family file you are using, and check the reference lines and make sure they do not go too far beond the geometry. Go to the largest size type of the family, and shrink down the size of the reference lines so they are just beyond the geometry. I run into this issue when we are trying to select on something around the family and it makes you select on the family, the reference lines aren't visible, but you can select them, it may be the same case for croping the view. just an idea. hope it helps
