Working in Revit 2015 i was wondering if it is possible automatically dimensioning the opening height (wall openings, doors or windows) in a linked file. At the moment i can't get it to work.

In the original file (existing building) the opening height is reported perfectly in liniair dimensions in floor plans. But in the file where the existing building file is linked (Addition to the existing building) the height of the openings in the existing building are not displayed.

It would be a pity if i had to create by linked views just because i can't get the opening heigts of existing openings displayed in the floor plan.

You could if you copy monitored the walls and doors.

This works like a tag does and you need to own the element.

Thanks for the reply.

I tried using copy/monitor. Maybe it's the answer for relative standard projects but in my case it doesn't help me very much. When i try to copy/monitor a wall i get a ton of warnings like 'Rectengular opening doesn't cut its host'.

I think i know why. The existing building is an old monument and has quite a complicated build. Also there will be an extensive renovation of the exesting building. Existing openings are filled or expanded. New openings wil be created, sometimes effecting muliple walls or existing openings. Existing doors wil be renewed.

We used phasing for that and all in all it wasn't easy to get everything exactly as we wanted it to be. We succeded but with lots of effort.

I don't know if using phasing the wrong way (i don't think soWinking may be the cause all the warnings but i suspect that the complexity of the existing building and all of the alterations may be a problem using copy monitor. Correct me if i'm wrong.....
