How do I set true north? When I go to View > Orient, the options are greyed out. When i go to Settings>Manage Place and locations, the angle is greyed out. Where can I input this information so that I dont have to reorient(rotate) the model it self to get accurate sun studies?

. Hello Keene, I remenber all too well having this same frustrating problem. This is a little tricky and not documented well. In REVIT 8.1 do as follows: 1. Right click on the view name in the project browser. 2. Click Properties. 3. Set the Orientation to True North. 4. VERY IMPORTANT - Before you proceed, make sure you click your mouse into the (white) editing window where your model is to make it the active window. If your active window is still in the Project browser the next step will not work. Experiment and you will see what I mean. 4a. If you do not do step 3. the next step will not work or you will get a warning. 5. Go to >Tools > Project Position / Orientation > Relocate True north. 6. Click the start point and end angle to rotate. Tada ! After that all you have to do is repeat step 1,2,3 for each view you want rotated * Step 4 above is very subtle but will cause the 'greying out' of your orientation tools and stop you in your tracks as you haver seen. Now if you go to >Settings > Manage Place and Location > you will see the new 'Read only' angle that you rotated. You can find this Tutorial and many more REVIT Tutorials at http://www.dgcad.com Hope this helps, Daryl DGCAD www.dgcad.com
